A simple assessment of our world today will leave us with an impression that things are falling apart. In fact, Jesus warned us about these days. He said things would get bad, before they got worse. And then the end

World disaster

Jesus promised we would hear of wars and rumors of wars before the end came (Matthew 24:6). He also said we would have disease, famine, earthquakes, and natural disasters (24:7). Terrorist attacks and bomb threats make the pages of scripture live in our day. All these things precede His return. In other words, nothing is keeping Him from coming back whenever He is ready. In the meantime, we must reach out to anyone who has not heard the message and bring them into the kingdom (Daniel 11:32-33; 12:3).

Love of Pleasure

People just live for fun in our modern, civilized world. Pleasure has become the main goal of people’s lives, and they live for little else. Even churches have become entertainment oriented. Some churches allow sin to run unchecked as people forget God even in the supposed house of God and pursue their own passions. The Apostle Paul warned that a time would come when people would love pleasure and self more than they loved God (II Timothy 3:1-4). Even good people are hard to find as things come to an end, but fortunately some have stayed true to the faith (Daniel 12:4; Luke 17:28-30).

The spirits of the enemy

See Bro. Baxter’s teachings at endtime.com for great content on what the end time prophecies might mean. He explains Revelation 6 this way:

  • White horse represents the Pope and Catholicism (white robes, diadem, bow without arrows). One quarter of population (6:1-2)
  • Red horse represents Communism. (red flag, sword of destruction, take peace). One fourth of population (6:3-4)
  • Black horse: Capitalism (scales), free market system (prices called out for certain products).  Possible quarter of population (6:5-6)
  • Pale horse: Third World countries: death, disease and famine. Alternative explanation: Islam enslaving with fear. One fourth of population (6:7-8)

These horses appear in Zechariah 6:1-8 and seem to each (Catholicism, Communism, Capitalism, and Poverty) prevent God’s Spirit from effectively working—especially in the north country (Capitalism). More than anything, these prophecies show us that end time predictions in the Bible are already taking place today. The book of Revelation will not wait to be fulfilled after Jesus’ return, some of it is being fulfilled right now.

Jesus is Coming

Are you ready for His return? He told His disciples He was going to prepare a place for believers (John 14:1-3). One day soon the trumpet will sound, calling those dead and alive in Him (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Corinthians 15). Some will be ready for Him and others will be distracted and miss His return (Matthew 25:1-13). If you have not yet obeyed the gospel, you need to do it now.

What happens to those who do not obey the gospel?
